Backpacker Buzz Issue 84– Go Hostelling 12 Months of the Year!
By Ceri JonesDo you ever wonder when the best time to stay at a particular hostel or visit a particular destination may be?
Hostelling International – Canada – Pacific Mountain Region’s diverse network of hostels means there’s always somewhere to visit in every month of the year.
Hostelling International’s new Twelve Months of Hostelling campaign will be showcasing a special Western Canada destination each month, and gives you plenty of reasons to consider a visit. Whether it’s fall hiking in the Rockies or festival season in the city, it’s time to plan your next staycation.
And as an extra incentive, we will offer HI members a special deal at the featured hostel destination! Each month the featured hostel will be posted on our blog www.backpackerbuzz.ca and online at www.hihostels.ca/12months.
Here’s a sneak peek at the forthcoming months:
January: HI-Jasper
Looking for a January getaway full of snowy activities? If so then Jasper is the place for you! A main event is the Jasper in January Festival, with a whole host of activities throughout the town including street parties, skating parties and live music! Of course you have excellent winter sporting opportunities right at your doorstep too!
February: HI-Nordegg and HI-Rampart Creek
A familiar sound around HI-Rampart Creek Wilderness Hostel and HI-Nordegg in February is the jingling of carabiner clips and ice screws. The ice walls in this area are world renowned, so if you are looking to do some exhilarating climbing, you know where to come.
March: HI-Vancouver
March in Vancouver is a great time of year, you start getting that spring feeling, the days get warmer and brighter, and the leaves and blossoms start appearing on the trees. What’s more Celticfest is on: six days of Celtic song and dance, climaxing with the St. Paddy’s Day parade. What better way is there to shake off those winter blues?
