Everest Base Camp Trek
The view of Mount Everest from Namche Bazaar is spectacular. From here you can enjoy coffee and the breathtaking views of the Himalaya’s tallest peaks and feel like you are on top of the world! Everest Base Camp is one of the best trekking destinations in the world. Solukhumbu is justifiably famous not only for the world’s highest mountain but for its Sherpa villages and monasteries. The main goal of an Everest trek is Base Camp, at an elevation of about 5340m. From there, you will climb Kala Pattar- a 5545m hump on the southern flank of Pumori (7145m) from where there is spectacular view of Everest (8828m), the Western Cwm and Lhotse Face.
Itinerary
Day 1: Lukla – Phakding. Day 2: Phakding – Namche Bazzar. Walk through the busy trail and view the tantalizing glimpses of Mt. Kusum Kangru (6369m), Everest (8848m) and Nuptse (7879m). Day 3: Namche Bazzar. Acclimatization Day. Day 4: Namche Bazzar – Phortse Thanga. Climb to Khumjung, descend to the valley of the Dudhkoshi River and arrive at Phortse Thanga (3500m). Day 5 & 6: Phortse Thanga – Dole – Machhermo. Climb steeply out of valley through rhododendron forest and see magnificent views of Khumbi La and Tawache. Day 7: Machhermo – Gokyo. A day of somewhat steep ascents and descents en route to Gokyo. Day 8: Gokyo. Excursion to Gokyo Ri provides panoramic views of Cho Oyu, Gyachung Kang, Lhotse, Makalu, Cholatse and Tawache. Day 8: Gokyo – Dzongla. Cross Cho-La pass and descend to Dzongla. Day 9: Dzongla –Lobuche. Day 10: Lobuche - Gorak Shep. Day 11: Gorak Shep – Dingboche. Day 12: Dingboche – Tyengboche. Day 13: Tyengboche - Namche Bazaar. Day 14: Namche Bazzar – Phakding. Day 15: Phakding – Lukla. Last night in a bustling town and a celebration dinner. Day 16: Lukla – Kathmandu
